Markisol’s founder Bo Persson was involved in the family roller blind business in Ronneby, Sweden from his early years. In 1960s after receiving education in Engineering, Bo started the business that would later become Markisol, specializing in the production of awnings, roller blinds and venetian blinds. In the 1960s Markisol commenced development and construction of fully automated machines that produced roller blinds. Automated machines allowed Markisol for production of several million pieces of blinds per year per production line. In the 1970s Markisol expanded into Northern Europe. It also obtained its first world patents for unique roller and venetian blind systems. In 1989 a strategic decision was made to establish a factory in Poland. In 2001 Markisol opened a production plant in Russia and in 2004 – in China. In 2010 the company acquired a textile mill in Estonia. In 2016 Markisol established branch offices in the USA and in 2017 – in Australia.
